Before Islam became a global light, it was a small flame struggling to survive in the heart of Makkah. These were the years of ridicule, boycott, and hardship yet also the years where courage was forged, hearts were purified, and the foundation of an Ummah was laid.
This class “Persecution to Perseverance” takes you into the Makkan period of the Seerah. A journey of resilience, patience and the quiet strength that carried the first believers through unimaginable trials.
This isn’t just history…it’s a mirror. A reminder that true change is born in seasons of struggle, and that perseverance is the seed of victory.

About Instructor
Ustadha Mehreen Bawla was raised in New York but has been living in Chicago for more than 2 decades where she is actively engaged in the work of the deen. She completed her professional degree at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and has been a pharmacist by profession since then. She is also the co-founder of Carriers of Light, a private Islamic school with a focus on hifdh of the Quran, in suburban Chicago. Ustadha completed her Alimiya degree at Zaynab Academy Online where she has taught advanced fiqh, inheritance law, and hadith. She is a married mother of 4 children.
